Ipswich Borough Council

The Ipswich BID has been running since April 2007 and works closely in partnership with Ipswich Borough Council in many areas.  The Council is supportive of the BID 2 process which will see the BID continue to March 2017.

Ipswich Borough Council supports Ipswich Central in a number of ways including:

  • Collection of the levy at no cost;
  • Additional grant support - in addition to paying the levy on its own properties;
  • Assisting with town centre events;
  • Joint initiatives on cleaning and maintenance;
  • Defining the vision of where Ipswich wants to be in the future.
  • The Council has representation on the Ipswich Central Board and at the Town Centre Forum where all town centre issues are discussed.

Councillor Carole Jones, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: "The town centre is at the heart of the Borough, and what happens here is a key concern for anyone who cares about the town. We are pleased to work with Ipswich Central in supporting businesses, improving the environment and making the town centre as welcoming, attractive and safe as we can – supported by the additionl income that the BID levy generates from town centre businesses."
